Douglas are you refering to those who contribute monetarily to the forum? If you are I can answer your question. Contributions are completely and totally transparent on the forum and there is no requirement and no "reward" for contributing beyond the way it makes someone feel. Contributions are accepted by David with the greatest appreciation and gratitude, but they do not affect a member's "standing" on the forum. As Abraham says "we're all in this together!".

What, no gold pen, or extra brownie labels to sew on our clothes? Oh, well. I guess it's the inner knowing and appreciation that comes from the giving of gifts.

OK then, it was just a thought.
Many of the forum sites I contribute to do that, so I thought I'd ask.
Heck, maybe try this. Make the tag super duper cool looking so folks will contribute just to get it...............

I would actually be LESS likely to contribute if it became a public display. That's my own thing, and I don't know who else feels that way. I think a lot of people don't even realize that there is a contribution button to click on. How about just making it bigger.
Gifts really shouldn't be given with the idea that you'll get something back other than a thank you, and once a gift is given, it's gone. No longer yours. If you want to BUY a metal, that's different. It's not a gift, it's a purchase. Again, just my own thing.
