Hello All,
I'm Leigh from Arkansas. I attend my hometown local Unity Church. It was through members of the church I had heard the name Abraham, but didn't understand what people were talking about. I had also heard of local meetings, and for the longest time, couldn't figure out when and where they were. Then, some Unity members did a book study on Lynn Grabhorn's book, "Excuse Me your Life Is Waiting". I had no idea a to what the book was about, until the study group met. In about four months after the study group formed, she was in Kansas City, at the local Unity Church there (one of them..Unity was founded in the KC area.) to speak. I saw her speak. It was an interesting talk. Then, both time and knowledge came together for me to join the local ABE group in February 1998. The few times prior to 1998 that I had seen the Hicks' catalogs, I felt overwhelmed. I didn't understand what they were selling. (Providing)
It amazes me to this day, how people can listen to a CD/tape, and find quotes off of the CD's and tapes, they have the segments so well known and studied. I don't understand how people keep track of them. I have yet to allow myself to order the CD's, and only have heard them at the local meetings. I have seen the Hicks and Abraham live once in KC, and was in the hot seat, though as far as I can tell, my segment with them..didn't make it to the monthly or weekly CDs.
I had contacted a member of another yahoo group list, and she mentioned to me "The Secret" was going to be coming out soon. But, did not say it would be from Esther and Jerry Hicks, so her comment didn't mean that much to me at the time. Then, from the same yahoo group list, a discussion started going on about "The Secret" and the whole story of how the first "The Secret" was developed. In a sense, "I was there". Then, all the reasons why Esther and Jerry dropped out of the first "Secret", was also discussed. As soon as a website was posted as to where to get the first "Secret" I ordered myself a copy. It is the only version I have seen.
I had heard of Wattle's book, through the same discussion list, at a much earlier time period. Went to a site listed, and ordered the book (paperback) and read it. And, I found it to be interesting that it was used as the bases for the second "Secret".
So, there is my story. I am happy and thankful to ahve the time to write it. This is joy. Leigh

Nope, it was Lynn Grabhorn's book who led me to Abraham. It was actually Abraham who led me to the Secret

Yes! me too... my story is so similar... I also googled the Hicks after reading Lynn Grabhorn.. ordered the intro tape...
And many years later I was led to the Secret by Abraham...
David and I were on the Alaska Abraham adventure cruise in 2005, where Rhonda Byrne, the producer of the Secret and her crew sailed with us. They filmed the entire 14 hours of workshops and it was announced that the crew was making a documentary TV show for Australian television. Everyone on that cruise felt they were part of "something big", although we didn't know yet that it would be called a "secret". We were just thrilled over the idea of a whole documentary on Abraham and Esther and Jerry!!!
When the TV plan was scratched and Rhonda and her organization started to market differently - we started to get the emails building up the anticipation of the Secret, until when it was launched a little more than a year ago - we were in a state of complete OMG!!! We watched it about 2 seconds after it was released on the internet, with GREAT anticipation and excitement... expecting to see our cruise, and maybe even ourselves in the audience!! Of course the format was completely changed and there were all the other wonderful teachers, and though it wasn't what was expected I for one LOVED LOVED LOVED the film, and I ordered the DVD immediately - so I own one of the originals with Abe of course...
When Abraham pulled out I ordered the new version which I think is just as good, to be honest, and I completely understood Esther and Jerry's reasons for pulling out of the project.
So.. long winded way of explaining how for me it was the other way around - got to the Secret through Abe... and it gave me an excuse to reminisce about those wonderful days of anticipation!!
I still think the Secret is a masterpiece, even though I completely see Abraham's point that they are still actually hiding the REAL secret, which is that this information is coming from non-physical... but that's another story... don't get me started!

well I answered yes and no!
I had been involved in rebirthing and thought is creative in the early 80's in England and then I came across Abraham in the 80's here in Phoenix, as some friends were totally into them and they lent me tapes, but I was into other things and it didn't click.........
Then last year June 06 I was told about the Secret, and watched it online, ho hum it was OK until Esther came on the screen and I was electrified. To me she was the best part of the movie, and the rest is history, I bought AAIIG, my sister in law had just been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I was freaking out, the book and the processes saved my sanity and my life! and continue to do so. August 06 I was at the Sedona workshop. I have the original DVD, I haven't seen the other one
I can't wait to go on a cruise and be with Abraham again and talk with them.
ALL IS VERY WELL, NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN I FEEL GOOD
Sarbella
PS and 'the Secret behind the Secret' is one of the most uplifting DVD's I have ever seen, a must see

One day I was on-line and googling "wealth" I found a website by one of the teachers on the Secret-Bob Doyle. I joined the site that day-Wealth beyond Reason. That was my intro to LOA. Bob has so many different teachers, books, interviews etc. with LOA teachers it was hard to choose what to check out first. It was a very exciting adventure. I found Esther, Jerry and Abraham there. I started deliberately creating the day I joined Bobs group. I told my kids about it all and they all started learning about LOA. there was an ebook (I will post the name of the book when I remember the name) something likeOh yeah "I am rich beyond my wildest dreams, I am , I am , I am. The book teaches you how to write down your desires and talks about allowing. So we all started doing that. Then my oldest daughter took a trip to the bookstore and found Hale Dwoskin's The Sedona Method. I started using the releasing technique in it and loved it. Then I received the tapes as a gift. Then we found stuff about EFT which Bob Doyle has on his website. He also had free stuff from Joe Vitale. Basically I grabbed a hold of anything and everything I found about LOA. I fell in love with Abraham right away. We bought a set of tapes and listened to them constantly. For some reason I stopped (ok I just don't want to go back there!" I still was a part of Bob's group and posted Gratitude posts everyday. I have been a member there for three years plus now. One day Bob talked about his part of The Secret.
He said it was great and we should watch it if led to do so but there was nothing there that we did not already know. so I did not want to spend money on it. Then one of my friends told me it was awesome. So my daughter found the whole thing on Youtube. Esther was there as was everyone else. It was in three parts. I watched in and loved it. I remembered how much I loved Abraham.
I had two Abraham books. I logically understood and used LOA but I did not understand the Guidance system. I somehow never grasped it before. Even listening to the tapes about it. I just didn't get that my thoughts were the cause of the emotions etc.
When I bought the movie Esther was not there! I was wondering what the heck was going on. One of my friends bought the original on Amazon. there is Esther and Abe. I realized that it is not only the words but the teacher and the energy the put behind the words. I feel Abraham's energy is much closer to my vibration of receiving than anyone else.
So while the Secret did not lead me to Abraham the first time it did bring me back. I know that I do not need anything else. I love Bob Doyle so much. I am so grateful to be back learning Abe stuff again.
I understand the Guidance system now. So I reread aaig. I finally feel like I know what I am doing.

This is my first post to the Forum. I wanted to share how I came to find Abraham.
I started reading Sylvia Browne's books two years ago after my husband passed away "croaked" from cancer. I was just trying to come to terms with the whole thing in my mind. In one of her books there were a couple of pages referring to asking the Universe for anything. This idea kept rolling around in the back of my mind for about a year. I read something similar to this in a book I was reading by John Edward and then a few weeks later again in a book by John Holland. Shortly after that I caught the last ten minutes of the Oprah show where they were discussing "The Secret". I immediately bought the book and DVD. This was not the Esther version. Have since seen that on YouTube.
Although "The Secret" was the best thing I had come across at the time, I felt it had been glitzed up and glossed over for broader appeal. Somehow, after that I was listening to Summer McStravick's shows on Flow Dreaming on Hay House Radio when she mentioned the archives of Abraham-Hicks. I pulled up an archived show and began listening. You know how a dog sit's up straight and perks up his ears when he hears something that's really important to him? That's what I did in my chair when I started listening to Esther's voice and words! It wasn't until I pulled up the second archived show that I realized that she was channeling Abraham. I had read all the Seth books about 25 years ago and was familiar with the process.
This was about six weeks ago and I just can't get enough. I have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments in the Forum and the Yahoo e-mal posts. I spent the better part of two years just letting things happen. I knew I needed time to let the grief pass before I could return to my sense of self. My "self" has returned and now Abraham has given me the inspiration to know that anything is possible and I am looking forward to opening a new chapter in my life.

I'm always interested to hear about other people who found Abraham through Lynn Grabhorn.
When I read Grabhorn's book, I didn't like her voice or her writing style--which should've been kind of a big deal to a former English professor.
But the CONTENT-- I felt like I was absorbing it through my pores and couldn't get enough of it. It was like I suddenly realized I'd been holding my breath for the last 30 years or so and finally got a big lungful of pure oxygen.
I just wish I'd trusted my gut feeling back then to learn more about Abraham-Hicks, but the channeling was an obstacle to me at that time. I wasn't quite ready, I guess.
Love,
Nancy C.

I admit, she could be kind of annoying, but there's something about her that makes me want to go out and try what she's saying. She's sort of like a perky older sister you want to thank one moment and slap the next ;)

Hi Everyone,
I was walking along Manly Beach one day, I entered to one of the New Age shops and I saw right at the entrance a pile of books, as I got closer I read "Ask and It is Given.." I read the title and stepped inside the shop but I did not pick up the book... half way the shop I returned to the pile of books as the name had attracted my attention. I picked it up and wrote down the name, authors and forgot about it for a while.
Weeks later I attended a meditation session and requested the owner of the shop to order me the book, it took more than 6 weeks and I had already forgotten about the book again. Finally it arrived and I read it as any other book and the only thing I grabbed from my reading was to create my 3 Magical Boxes, one for abundance, love and justice. Only the justice box has been working to its fullness.
Months later (8) my sister was on holidays and whilst watching Oprah's interview of Rhona Byrne and the LOA Teachers my attention to the Law of Attraction topic was called for, I sat a while to watch the program and from there on I picked it up again.
To answer the question, Abraham found me via the AAIIG and reminded me to return to the Teachings via The Secret.

The Secret was how I got to Abraham. As soon as I heard Esther’s voice channelling Abraham, so warm, poetic, and clear,
I felt an immediate connection and resonance, and I knew I wanted to work with her/Abraham. I first became familiar with the LOA through Shakti Gawain back in the eighties; I have read some of the Seth material, so the idea of channelling seems natural to me. More recently I read Lynn Grabhorn, although I found her personality and style was not really a match for me.
Somehow, it’s the combination of Esther and Abraham that allows me to feel that personal and emotional connection that I seem to need.

I voted no. The Secret wasn't anything new.
Speaking of the Secret, did anyone think "what's so secret about this" when they were watching? I didn't hear one new concept while watching the movie. I thought it was just someone re-presenting the Abraham teachings. Which I though were a clarification of the Seth materials.
And now, the "teachers" who were featured in the Secret are proclaiming that what was represented in The Secret isn't the whole deal. According to Bill Harris, Joe Vitale, Lisa Nichols, and I don't know who else, you have to do something beyond the SECRET. And you can only find out what it is when you buy their special products.
There's nothing new under the sun. I find that hearing the LOA, etc. sits best with me when I hear it from the Abraham "entity". And I am not into the overwhelming marketing that everyone is doing with the same information. Is that stubborn or elitist of me?

Dee, you are so right.
Not only isn't the Secret a secret, but as Abraham pointed out in the seminar on the recent Mexico cruise - the Secret film purported to be finally letting out a secret that had been held "in the few" for centuries, what they actually failed to do was reveal the "real secret" which is that this information is known by all of us when we arrive in this life BECAUSE it is delivered by SOURCE...
It left out the entire "non-physical" element. :- !!! And the Secret never mentions the word "vibration"!!!
Even the original version of the Secret which does have Esther and Abraham, doesn't explain that Esther is indeed speaking the words of a cluster of non-physical entities. Only those who were truly attracting the "real secret" went further and investigated and were led to the Abraham site, and the information.
All that said, however, I think anyone can benefit from understanding the LOA, even if they don't have that extra understanding of the non-physical. I don't really think they have the whole picture... but still - for many many people who simply had not been exposed in any way to the so-called secret, the movie did open their eyes to a new say of seeing their lives and their power to create their own reality. Everybody is attracting the information in the form and amount that is appropriate for their path and where they are right now. So it's all good.
Love,
Jody

Yes, I found Abe through the Secret. I saw the second show about the Secret on Oprah and was intrigued. I found the You Tube version of the Secret with Esther and really enjoyed it. Then I watched the first and second Oprah interviews with the people involved with the Secret and something did not feel right to me at all. Some of the people involved are really wonderful. But there are a handful who put off a vibe that left a bad taste in my mouth. The fact that Esther was cut out had me intrigued. Why was she cut out? I saw The Art of Allowing book at BN one day and felt right at home. At this time in my life, all I need is Abe as a guide through life. It feels safer than anything else out there. And I am so grateful for that. TU

I know what you mean about the other people on The Secret. I got a not so great vibe from them myself. Although I am a Holosync user, Bill Harris grates on my nerves because i get several marketing letters from him a week trying to sell me this person's version of LOA and that person's workshop and of course his own stuff which I should be honored to pay thousands of dollars for, but no one needs more than one "teacher" to point out the obvious. I heard Oprah say on her radio show tht the law of attraction doesn't need your belief in order to work. That is the absolute truth but it's great that the Abraham "entity" is helping to show us that we can choose our thoughts that create the vibrations that point our lives in the direction we would prefer to go.
I tried to sell Bob Proctor an e-workshop entitled "how to get rich selling other peoples's concepts" in response to his $2000 course on The Science of Getting Rich but all I got in reply was an email informing me that I had been successfully unsubscribed from his newsletter. LOL!!:shades:
