Okay, I know I said I'd leave this until later in the summer, but Martin makes a good point, and actually it's never too early to book rooms at WDW...
I'm not really sure how we should go about this! David and I will probably stay the whole week, and I anticipate that we will have a hotel off-site and rent a car. As Martin mentioned, of course, there is a myriad of hotel choices, and the decision is personal depending on budget and tastes, ages of kids, etc. I have stayed at almost all of the Disney on-site hotels in all categories, so if you have any questions, hit me with them. At this point I prefer the off-site locations, but that's just me after years and years of the "Magic". I would not recommend off-site if you won't have a car and/or if you have small kids.
Some of our members will drive in from their Florida homes, others will be flying in from points all over the globe, and some will stay the whole week and others will just come for a day or two... so... it gets a little complicated.
So here are my thoughts:
I am thinking we plan a few "events" to do together as a big group - maybe a character meal or two, the Lion King show together, that sort of thing - that everyone can plan around, and then smaller groups can split off and tour together according to what they like to do. Those with small kids in tow might have different itineraries than those without kids, etc.
If anyone has any ideas (please!) on how to organize this, please chime in! All I know at this point is that it's going to be fabulous, and FUN!
Again, getting reservations for flights and hotels is not unreasonable at this point in time. Also, if we want some of the really choice character meals - those sell out early - very early - so we'll want a plan and someone to execute the reservation making 90 days out.
Okay, over and out.

Jody
PS sorry I've been remiss with the roll call! I'm adding the new members now! YAY!

Jody,
Add me and my mom (Ro) to the roll call. We'll probably fly down on Friday at the end of the week and be there for the last weekend.

A really nice resort very close to DW is the Sheraton Vistana Resort.
They have lovely two and three bedroom units available (they are a time-share, but do rent as well). We have stayed there numerous times- the Fountains II area is my favourite. Some of the units have a jacuzzi RIGHT in the master bedroom...aaaaa..very nice for sore legs after a day at the parks. And it is nice to have a kitchen to make breakfast and any other meals.
But you will need a car to get around.

Hi everyone,
Well, I've volunteered to take the lead in the planning of this trip -- Be Kind!! I'm not sure what all that will entail, but I'm jumping in enthusiastically and hope that I can help make this trip and our gathering together a wonderful experience.
I'd like to start by requesting that all those who are planning to attend to send me a PM with your email.
I am planning to send out a "survey" that will capture different information, including who is coming, ages of children, where you plan to stay, and gather some ideas about what you are most interested in doing while at Disney. This will help us make some plans for group activities.
Also, once we get to a point of deciding on some specific events, I'd love to have some people volunteer to take on spearheading an event and being a point person. I'm only go to be there at the end of the week and I don't think Jody has to be in charge of everything. So, if you like planning stuff and would be willing to join the team, let me know! I'd really, really appreciate it. I don't think this would be extremely labor intensive.
Well, let's keep this party going! What fun. What fun!!!

Kendall
P.S. Just a heads up that once I get your email I'll send you an email and it's a Yahoo account, which sometimes gets bounced to Spam or Bulk Mail folders. I'll post here when I send a group email so you can look for it and make sure it's marked as "not Spam". Just an FYI.

ok, ok, I think I'll just have to move to America so that I can go on all the Abe workshops and so that I can join you all at Disney! Whew.... sounds FANTASTIC.... I'll be there in spirit! Hmmm... I could also just put my oars in my boat, attract all that wonderful wealth in my vibrational escrow into my life right now and then just hop onto my private jet for whatever meetup, workshop, cruise that I feel like!
so much love to you all

Gabby, you powerful creator you! You don't need a private jet - a commercial one will do the trick! Just hop on one to Tel Aviv.. I'll meet you and we can fly to Orlando together to meet the mouse!

ooooh, I am having goose bumps right down to the tip of my toes. That's tempting, so tempting. Hmmmmm I have such a strong desire to take a sabatical in the fourth term (bit of a break from teaching), not sure why or what I'm going to do, but feels like a great idea. (it's firmly in my vibrational escrow) so maybe part of that will be visiting America.
watch this space...............

Yes! Jody, it's Susan, you can count me in!
Since I live right here in Orlando, there's no way I could possibly miss this! I'm thrilled you'll all be coming here, and at the perfect time of year, too.
What a great idea, this is!
, this year is getting better and better.... in just three weeks
I'll be cruising with Abraham to Alaska
and then, in a few short months,
we'll all get to play at the "Mouse's House", as well!!!! YAAAAY!!!!
(...just think of this as a "mouse".... try squinting!!!)

Hi Jody!
Yes, absolutely!
Perhaps all the other Florida-Abers agree with me.... This is a great place to live, I feel so fortunate to be here. With all this fabulous entertainment right on our doorstep, I still get a kick out of going there, or "showing the parks off" to visiting friends & family... even now! When the kids were younger we would buy annual passes every year and went all the time. Hmmm...wait, when I say "all the time", I mean "all the time" between say October and May, it's just too miserable in the summer heat here. That's why your choice of December is so great - the weather should be fantastic, and rain chances will be pretty much nil. You can occasionally still run into some hot days, even in December, but the humidity is usually very low, so even if you do get some heat, it's not such a bear as the summer heat + humidity always is.
I don't know, if anyone saw it, but just recently there was an entire "Disney-Fest" on the Travel Channel, there were several different shows about all things Disney in a row. From the parks to the cruising to the back-stories, it was very interesting. Samantha Brown was on one of the shows giving tips and some really good advice for visitors to the Kingdom. (How to best use "Fast-Pass" and all sorts of good stuff.) I hope they'll repeat it before too long, so everyone will have a chance to watch it.
In any case, I will be glad to help with any questions anyone might have and if I don't know the answer, I have a friend who works for the Mouse and is an experienced Disney-ite.... If I'm stumped, she'll find us the answer! So ask away!

Fantastic! Can I put you on the roll call? And your GF too?
We have a big group forming. Luckily the wonderful Kendall has volunteered to help me get some planning going..
Right after the Alaska cruise that starts happening, so watch this space!! And anyone else who can come down to Florida between Dec. 1 and 7 (or any part of that time) - join the roll call! It's going to be a fabulous joyful Disney - AbeForum meet!
Susan, you won't believe this, but for years my daughter and I had annual passes as well! YES, and we live in the MIDDLE EAST - about 6000 miles away as the crow flies!
We'd come for about 10 to 14 days in December or January, and then again the following year for the 10 days preceding that time while our passes were still good! Annual passes worked a bit differently then, but this gave us very affordable entrance to the parks and huge discounts on hotels. We were Disney fanatics - still are. Later, when she became a teen and couldn't leave school for that long we started doing the same thing at Disneyland Paris (used to be called EuroDisney) - shorter flight - no Epcot - tradeoff. We love it there too. My last trip with her was December 2006 - OMG it's been a year and a HALF!! Well.. they grow up! BUT, of course then I dragged David there this past September and in January this year I went to Disneyland Anaheim with another Aber friend - I can't go a year without getting to the Disney parks! I know I say this until people are sick of it - but WALT IS WITH ABE!! I just KNOW IT!!!

Okay, I seem to be rambling.. but after Abe cruises, Disney parks would definitely qualify as my favorite subject. Yes, definitely. It's official.
