Wow, it's getting REAL!!!

This cruise sneaked up on me - I wasn't planning to go.. but then David surprised me with it just two days after the Caribbean cruise - so I'm SO EXCITED... but SO unprepared!! I'm flipping into high gear now with the plans though!  I got my flights today, and we will be arriving in Rome the night before (May 28) and staying at the Holiday Inn.  Anyone else?  Now.. it's time to turn my attention to shore excursions... Oh, this is SO MUCH FUN!!! I have yet to visit any of the places we'll be going to on this cruise - so it's all new new new!

So if any of you have your plans for excursions, and/or any comments about the ports and cities we'll be at... please post! The most pre-paving the BETTER!!

And have I mentioned I'm EXCITED????

Jody et al,

Mom and I are getting in Tuesday night and will be at the Holiday Inn on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  I guess we'll be the Welcome Wagon!!  ::frog::frog(This is me and mom!)

We'll put mints on all of your pillows!

I'm dying to know what everyone is doing for shore excursions.  We're going out to the Tuscany countryside, then doing the Cannes tour, then flamenco dancing, the museum of contemporary art in Palma, the Abraham Tunisian tour, cooking in Sicily and then a quiet last day on Capri! We may also plan our own excursion back into Barcelona since all the Holland tours are complete by 1 p.m. ish -- or maybe we'll be taking our own siesta!

The countdown is on!  We're flying to see my sister and family this upcoming week and are testing out all our new electronics -- camera and video -- so that we can be ready to go for the cruise!  Plus my mom hasn't flown at all since she had both her shoulders replaced so that's a test run too!  She wants to know  how bad she's going to set off the metal detectors!  Should be fun!

Getting giddier and giddier!

Abundance flows!::wow

Kendall, most of the Barcelona tours will leave you off in the city rather than take you back to the ship.  The ones that do go back to the ship are specified on the list of shore excursions.  We are thinking we'll just get a good guidebook to Barcelona, as well as talk to friends who have been there, and try to just go it alone there rather than sign up for any excursions.

We have a private van/guide which friends have arranged for our last day - Pompeii, Amalfi coast, etc...

On the day we dock in Livorno, we'll be taking a tour of the Tuscan countryside with wine tasting.  That looked like the best tour for us to fulfill our intention of seeing Tuscany.  Although.. we're sure we'll be back someday to see more! This will just be a taste!  Neither one of us really likes wine - but since wine is such a big part of Tuscan culture, seeing the wineries and how they make the wine will be interesting.

We also signed up for a tour in Monaco - a bus tour of the Riviera....

We dock close to Palma, so we'll just go into the city, like in Barcelona, with a guide book and "be tourists"!

We're not planning to go ashore in Tunisia.

Of course.. all this could change - you never know!  But this is our plan at the moment...

And how great that so many forum members will be at the Holiday Inn! We can all meet for breakfast before leaving for the cruise and start the reveling early!

Comments? Are we having fun yet?!!  OH YEAH!!!  ::boatwave

Thanks to everyone who has rsvp'd to our little gathering.  For those of you who haven't responded yet -- make sure to see the invitation posted earlier on in this thread to come to a gathering of Abe Forum folks.

Jody and David -- loved hearing your plans.  I knew you'd be much more adventurous than my mom and I.  Well, actually, for us we are being very adventurous even getting on the plane so it's all relative isn't it.   This is going to be so much fun.

Anyone else want to share their plans?

Breakfast Thursday morning sounds like a great idea.  We'll be so rowdy (aka up to speed with our desires) by the time we get on the shuttle to the ship they won't know what to do with us!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello Everyone:::wave

I will be attening the Med Cruise also....so put me on the role call, please.  I so much enjoyed the Mexican one l couldn't stop myself from signing up for this one (and the Alaskan one too).

Someone was asking about tours in Rome.....l found one that l think should be a hit, it's a bus that leaves from Termini Station every 15 minutes, taking you on a tour of Romes sites, where you can get on and off at selected "attractions".....l believe it's just like all the tour trolley's (Washington DC, Savannah, Key West and such) in the major US cities, where there is a guide speaking about the city and the stops, and then you can get off and take your time to view the sites.....a bus comes every 15 minutes to pick you up and take you to the next stop...or home.  It's under $30. for a 24 hour period, and less then double if you want a 48 hour period.   Seems like a great deal, and a great way to get you feet wet.  I'm assuming that there will be brochures at the train station  other places offering tourist info.

Hey fellow cruisers!

My mom's (Elisabetta) and my plans for the shore excursions are to not plan anything :exactly:! We'll see how it goes once we're on board and will decide spontaneously.

What we DO plan is to have lots of fun, on the ship and outside ::grapevine!

How great that some of you will be staying at the Holiday's Inn the night before - I'm all up for a breakfast together!

Love & hugs,
Andrea (Marbella)

Andrea (Marbella),

I love the "not plan anything" approach.  Just allow everything to line up for you.  Sounds wonderful.  See you all in Rome.

My hubby and I are on cloud nine about this trip; it seems surreal. But then I noticed the shirt he had been wearing a lot said "there's no place like roam" (sounds like Rome to me!), and ta da, we're going! We are flying to Venice first and plan to have a lovely gondola ride on the Grande Canal. We'll enjoy checking out Rome and the Vatican City when we return from the waters of well-being journey, and have arranged for excursions to:

Discover Cinque Terre (Livorno/Florence)

Jewels of the Cote d'Azur: Nice, Eze & Monaco (Monte Carlo, Monaco) [I am enjoying the English look of the names of the cities Nice and Eze, even though I know the French pronounciation sounds like the English word "niece."]

Barcelona Highlights

The Abraham-Hicks arranged tour in Tunis

Cefalu: A Seaside Town (Palermo, Sicily)

The Amalfi Coast & Sorrento (Naples)

We really love being on the ship and the waters of well-being, too! I was still feeling the lull of the ship a couple of weeks after we were back home from the Carribean cruise and am still smiling remembering how fun the entertainment was, and how awesome the Abraham experience and being with all the wonderful Abers was, and my husband hadn't attended the Abraham workshops but came home and fully read one and part of another of the Abraham books on our bookshelf.
