breaking a bad habit

I have a bad habit of picking the skin around my nails and ive almost stopped three times, but i always start again, usually when im stressed..what does abe saying about stopping bad habits?

Is this something that was learned from watching another or something you came up with on your own? Just curious. I learned biting my fingernails from my mother and she was only in my life up until I was in the first grade and I didn't quit until I was 25 years old! I went to Barber school and found out about all that gross stuff on peoples heads and how it was gonna be under my fingernails! So I just pictured eating peoples dandruff every time I bit my fingernails and that cured me lol!

I'm looking for advice on this topic myself maria. I would so love to quit smoking! I know I started smoking for one reason, but that reason doesn't exist anymore, so I know I don't continue to do it for that same reason. It's part habit and part addiction. Anyway, looking forward to some replies on this one! Thanks for posting maria!

no i didnt pick it up from anyone..i actually think i started doing it when i moved to ny when i was 8, and now im 22, so i guess it was the move that i wasnt happy with that made me do it but im completely fine now, its just been so long that now i cant stop.

Dear Maria,

At one point you picked this habit up in an attempt to soothe yourself when you were upstream.  Like a habit of thought, it is a habit of action.  If you can soothe the vibration that you are offering by pivoting into a better feeling place then you will eventually not have the need for the habit.  Instead of focusing on "getting rid of the habit" & "stopping it" (because if this is your dominent focus then what you resist persists) 
Turn your focus on your ability to soothe yourself, ease yourself into a better feeling place - thoughts of appreciation for your hands, nails, your ability to breathe deeply etc.  Focus on what you want to achieve rather than what you want to be rid of.

Alone I close my eyes and begin to calm down and breathe slowly; then I saw myself in my imagination going over a sexy girl and in my imagination I had a lot of desire; then I bring into my awereness the memory of a encounter with Love and not only Luxury; and then I saw the sexy girl again; and Luxury was replace by Love :)

The thing is Wayne Dyer says that we Imagine the Life that we will Live; so the next time I see a Sexy Girl I act as I did in my imagination; the result: I Got Heal of my Luxury Adiction!! =D

Perhaps you should close your eyes, breath calmer; and then picture yourself in your imagination picking the skin of your nails and then repeating something like "I give my nails the gift of peace; I love my Body; Im a super wondefull Person" And you will see everything will be cool!!
