So sometimes something happens that makes us feel bad. We want to feel good, but somehow we can't make it happen.
What I've recently discovered that works for me is working my way up the EGS in writing.
I have a Word-doc on my computer with the EGS (Emotional Guidance Scale). When I feel down I dig up that file and start writing, I start all the way down at the bottom, write about the lowest feeling (depression, fear, ...) and type all I can think of, when I can't think of anything else from the "depression" point of view I move up one point (to insecurity/guilt/unworthiness) and write about my "problem" from that point of view.
I work my way up all the way to joy/love/appreciation/... and when I'm done I feel completely different. The energy is back and usually at this point I get inspired into doing something and the "depression" feels like it happened a year ago, the bad feelings are very far away.
When I'm done writing I close the file without saving, so whenever I need the EGS again, it's always there for me to start over. And what's more, when I'm writing I know I'll delete it, no one will ever be able to read it, so I can freely express my feelings in blaming someone else, or shouting at them in the lower ranges and that's a very powerful way to let it all out without hurting anyone.
Deleting it also has a deeper meaning: you're really "allowing it to disappear from your world".
I suggest you do it sometime, you'll be amazed at how fast this "process" takes you downstream ::boat
I've posted this as an answer to somebody here on the forum, but this works so well I wanted to make it a seperate thread so that everyone would see it.

I love this idea, Belana! Thanks so much. The EGS can be a little confusing at first. This is a great way to practice it!

Dear Belana,
Wow! I have been asking this question in my mind but was too afraid to ask the forum. You answered it, I will give it a try. I have had a really wonderful morning just creating a rampage of allowing in my mind all morning. I will do that as well.
Thank you again and agan for this ray of sunshine. It is so clear and specific and easy to follow. ::boat
love it!!

Wow...ask and you shall recieve, huh? I had a 'not so fun' Mother's Day and have been dealing with negative feelings about my husband. I try to find things to appreciate about him, but my anger is too great. Then, I decided to log on here to ask what to do. This thread was at the very top, so I clicked on it, and VOILA! My question was immediately answered!!!!!
So, off I go to try this method...

What a great technique. I try to keep myself at the top as much as I can because being somwhere around the bottom consumes too much energy, which I need to conserve for my studies not to mention staying afloat.

I did this thing that you describe something like 2 months ago about my bf and it worked incredibly well, writing is so powerful for some, at least it is for me.
Such a good idea, I could do it on many other subjects!!! THANK YOU BELANA!

You're very welcome you guys
I've been into Abe for almost a year now and I've always had trouble working my way up the EGS, never really found how to do it effectively until I once did it the way I described here above. The effects were amazing to say the least.
The uncomfortable feelings were gone in only half an hour or so, and this used to take me days before.

I thought there must me others like me who didn't 'get' this, so that's why I posted it in a new thread for everybody to see.

In my experience when you are really angry or hurt it's almost impossible to do a BOPA on anyone or anything. Sometimes you just need to get a better feeling before you're able to find anything positive and this EGS does the trick every time !

Love
Belana

Here's a copy of my scale, all ready for you to copy and past in a work doc if you like... Notice, when I start at the bottom the print is in black, when I move up a bit, the color gets somewhat lighter (because the feeling gets a bit lighter) to dark grey and so on. I end with blue (sky), it feels good to me that I end up 'on a high' and what's higher than the sky ? ::frog

sorry, couldn't copy it with the colors like it is on my computer, so I had to change the colors somewhat on the forum here.
To give you an idea, I go with black for nr 21 and 20, then use dark grey for a couple higher, a little lighter grey for the following few, again somewhat lighter grey for the next ones etc.
Feels good to me that the ideas become lighter along with the color of the black but of course you can play with this anyway you like, it's just an idea

Hmmmm... Actually...
The EGS is a Sticky Thread at the top of this forum! I put it there a while back so it would always be there for easy reference....
